Sunday, May 18th 2025 project cars will take center stage! Come on down with your poor, beat to hell shitbox and let us love on it- because shitboxes are where we all start.
Why do we dedicate a special theme day to these so-called “shitboxes”, and what is a “shitbox?” The answer to why is simple: because they epitomize our deep-rooted love for cars. These vehicles, often neglected, mistreated, and left for dead, are symbols of our aspirations and realities. They represent the dreams we have of transforming something overlooked into something extraordinary, just as we strive to elevate our own lives. Restoring or even just keeping these cars running is nothing short of a labor of love. It requires passion, commitment, vision, and resilience—qualities needed to breathe new life into an abandoned relic. There’s something profoundly moving about taking a vehicle in disrepair and painstakingly bringing it back to its former glory. It takes a special type of affection to appreciate a car in its worn-out state, showing that, against all odds, it continues to roll on. In a time when society often pushes to erase these vehicles from our roads, we choose to celebrate them and everything they represent. They are a testament to human spirit and creativity, a reminder that beauty can be found even in the most battered of machines. Let’s honor these cars and the stories they carry with them.
As to what is a “shitbox”, simply put, they are generally cheap cars in bad condition- but they don’t have to stay that way! These are cars that have generally been abused by previous owners, whether they tracked them for a bit and then moved on to another car, leaving it behind and eventually selling it, or a car that simply wasn’t maintained the way it ought to have been, and has mechanical and cosmetic issues as a result, or a car that has been in a wreck and gone without repairs. A little bit of love and determination is all it takes to get these cars running dependably and looking good as new, although it can take some time to do so depending on just how badly they were abused.
We don’t just welcome shitbox cars, of course- all makes and models, in any stage of build, whether you’re just starting out or your build is complete – are welcome to come by, hangout, and have a cup of coffee.
